OrganicsLA is the City of Los Angeles’ residential curbside organics recycling program, keeping food waste out of landfills and turning it into compost that supports California agriculture and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Under California law (SB 1383), all residential properties must separate food scraps and food-soiled paper from trash. Not sure where to start, or want to learn more about organics recycling? LA Sanitation has resources.
The Los Angeles Public Library’s annual Teens of L.A. Film Fest is an opportunity for young filmmakers to showcase their talent, enthusiasm, and creative spirit. Student filmmakers under the age of 19 entering grades 6-12 are encouraged to submit their short film in the book trailer, Central 100, documentary short, experimental short, live action short, animated short, micro short, music video, or public service announcement category by Monday, July 6, 2026 for the chance to be featured in the Teens of L.A. Film Fest.
