Because many of us want to walk along a running creek after the recent rain, we will walk some trails in Placerita Canyon. We will meet at the bottom of the steps of the Nature Center. The address for GPS purposes is Placerita Canyon Nature Center, 19152 Placerita Canyon Rd, Newhall, CA 91321. It is the red marker on the maps below.

The temps should be sunny and in the low 60's when we start and upper 60's when we finish. Wear shoes or boots that can get a bit muddy, bring a hiking stick or trekking pole if you have one, even though most walks are pretty flat. We will have a map of the walks and a description of each walk and pick when we get there. We will start at the short Heritage Trail to the Oak of the Golden Dream, through the tunnel with the mural. DIRECTIONS:

Depending on traffic at the time you drive there:

• Take either the 210 Freeway WEST to the 5 Freeway NORTH (or Take the 5 Freeway NORTH from Shadow Hills)
• Drive on the 5 Freeway North to CA-14 Freeway NORTH
• Take CA-14 Freeway NORTH to EXIT 3, Placerita Canyon Road.
• Drive about 1 and a half miles on Placerita Canyon Road to the entrance of Placerita Canyon State Park on your right.
• Drive into the Park and park in the parking lot as near as you can to the buildings.
• We will meet at the bottom of the steps of the Nature Center.
