Community Meetings Regarding Light Rail

Posted on 11/03/2026

The meetings will focus on parking conditions, potential parking management strategies, and community concerns as the light rail project moves forward.

Metro hired an independent consultant to study parking conditions along the corridor. Residents will have an opportunity to learn about the study and provide feedback on how parking could be managed in neighborhoods surrounding the future rail line.

Two Opportunities to Participate

Both meetings will cover the same information. Residents can choose to attend virtually or in person. Spanish interpretation will be available at both meetings.

How the Light Rail Project Will Affect Arleta

The East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Project will create a 6.7-mile, street-level rail line along Van Nuys Boulevard. The route will connect the Metro G Line Van Nuys Station to San Fernando Road, improving transit access throughout the eastern San Fernando Valley.

For Arleta residents, the project represents a major investment in public transportation. However, the new rail line also raises questions about parking availability, traffic patterns, and access to nearby businesses and residential streets.

Community feedback will help Metro and LADOT evaluate potential parking management approaches along the corridor.

Make Your Voice Heard

Parking is an important concern for residents and businesses near the future light rail line. Metro encourages community members to participate in either meeting and share their experiences and priorities.

Residents who need ADA accommodations or interpretation in languages other than Spanish should call 818-701-3844 at least 72 hours before the meeting.
